HKF&DA Makes a Grand Debut at Maison&Objet Paris 2025

The Hong Kong Furniture and Decoration Trade Association (HKF&DA) has successfully made its debut at Maison&Objet Paris 2025 with an exceptional showcase, “HK+FR: Furniture for World Design.” This milestone participation marks a significant step in promoting Hong Kong’s innovative design and craftsmanship on the international stage.

Supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the exhibition brought together an impressive roster of Hong Kong’s leading designers, esteemed manufacturers, and Rising Talent Award winners from Maison&Objet 2023 and 2024. The event underscored the city’s dedication to innovation, professional manufacturing excellence, and cross-cultural collaboration in the global furniture and homeware industry.

A Showcase of Hong Kong’s Finest Design Talent

A major highlight of “HK+FR: Furniture for World Design” was the participation of four distinguished Hong Kong design masters: Joey Ho, Tommy Li, Walter Ma, and Victor Wong. Each brought their unique artistic vision to the exhibition, captivating audiences with a range of contemporary and experimental pieces. From Joey Ho’s whimsical and thought-provoking interior concepts to Victor Wong’s pioneering AI-infused multimedia creations, the exhibition embodied the diversity and ingenuity of Hong Kong’s design landscape.

Tommy Li, known for his groundbreaking brand designs, presented an elegant Table & Chair collection alongside an intricate series of carpets and tableware, while fashion veteran Walter Ma introduced a series of sophisticated armchairs, sofas, and home accessories. Their collective works served as a testament to the depth of creativity and professionalism that define Hong Kong’s design industry.

Cross-Cultural Collaboration with Rising Talents

Further enhancing the exhibition’s global appeal, award-winning Rising Talents from France and beyond joined forces with the Hong Kong design masters. Notable presentations included:

  • Sébastien Cluzel and Morgane Pluchon’s ISOLA sofa and LINTEAU shelves, inspired by Italian landscapes and architectural motifs.
  • Nelson Fossey’s BUNDLE Lighting & Coffee Table, a collaboration with Hong Kong’s Profilia, seamlessly blending industrial design and craftsmanship.
  • Jenna Kaës’ A Cold Wave Song & Mental Coil, intricately designed bamboo silk carpets exploring contemporary mysticism.
  • The Line & Raphaël duo’s Armchair PETALE, a fusion of solid walnut wood and gold-toned 3D-printed inlays.
  • WINT Design Lab’s O-Pendant light family, an ambient lighting system inspired by the interplay of light and shadow.

The exhibition not only highlighted the individual achievements of these emerging designers but also showcased the power of international collaboration in driving creative evolution.

Hong Kong’s Manufacturers Elevate Design to New Heights

Integral to the exhibition’s success was the involvement of eleven leading Hong Kong-based furniture and home decoration manufacturers, including Arredamenti Company Ltd., Grand Classic Limited, and Sun Ming Holdings Ltd. Their contributions reinforced the city’s reputation for impeccable craftsmanship and commitment to quality, further enhancing the global competitiveness of Hong Kong’s design industry.

A Resounding Success and a Vision for the Future

Reflecting on the event’s triumph, May Leung, Project Convener, stated, “We are thrilled to have showcased the best of Hong Kong’s design talents at Maison&Objet. The synergy between Hong Kong and Paris, two cities celebrated for their cultural dynamism, has fostered an inspiring artistic dialogue that we hope to continue.”

Allen Kwong, Chairman of HKF&DA, echoed this sentiment, adding, “As we celebrate our 70th anniversary in 2025, this landmark exhibition reaffirms our commitment to promoting the ‘3Cs’ – Culture, Creativity, and Craftsmanship – in the furniture and decoration industry. We extend our deepest gratitude to CCIDA for their unwavering support in making this debut a reality.”
