Angela Yuen and Tony Wu Named Ambassadors for HKIFF50 Golden Jubilee Edition

The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) today welcomes that actors Angela Yuen and Tony Wu as ambassadors for the Golden Jubilee edition of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF50), underscoring the significance of this Golden Jubilee milestone for one of Asia’s longest-running international film festivals.

HKIFF50 will take place from 1 to 12 April 2026 under the theme “50 and Beyond: Framing the Future”, reflecting the festival’s continued commitment to bridging heritage and innovation while fostering cinematic dialogue and discovery.

The Best Actress nominee at both the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards for her performance in The Narrow Road, Angela Yuen returns as ambassador for a second consecutive year. “I was overwhelmed with excitement when I received the invitation, It’s a great honour to continue in this role” she said. Tony Wu, who received the Best New Performer award at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in Weeds on Fire, joins as an ambassador for the first time. He shared, “I was thrilled and pleasantly surprised to be invited. It also comes with a sense of responsibility, and I hope to give it my best.”

Reflecting on the significance of HKIFF50, Yuen remarked, “The 50th edition is a major milestone. It has witnessed Hong Kong’s evolution alongside its cinema, and its continued presence is deeply meaningful.” Wu added, “The festival is a valuable platform, allowing local filmmakers to connect with international talents. This is especially precious.”

HKIFFS will unveil the full programme line up for HKIFF50 in March 2026, along with further highlights. The Society remains dedicated to promoting film culture and bringing outstanding works from around the world to Hong Kong audiences.
