For over two decades, MCCM Publishing has quietly cultivated its presence, deeply integrated into the cultural fabric of Hong Kong. Now, as its journey draws to a close, a final gathering with the community is the perfect farewell.
We invite you to join this PAGES of a Place special event. Vincent Yu will take us on an intimate journey: how tens of thousands of “one-time-use” news photos, shot across three decades, are rescued from the archives and reborn as photobooks you can keep forever.
He’ll reveal every step — the ruthless editing from hundreds of thousands of frames to just over a hundred, the quiet magic of sequencing that stitches news into Hong Kong’s living memory, the fierce debates over paper, ink, and touch, and the trembling joy of the first printed sheet.
Page by page, he brings back a disappearing city: Yau Ma Tei fruit market, Sham Shui Po rooftop pigeon coops, Wan Chai Blue House verandas, the last lights of Kowloon Walled City, the Star Ferry bell… and the faces now gone — candied-fruit hawkers, neon repairmen, old men playing chess, a girl running for the last ferry in the rain.
They have vanished from the streets, but still breathe inside Vincent’s books.
This is more than a talk about making photobooks. It is a tender farewell to the Hong Kong we are losing — and a quiet promise to keep it alive, one page at a time.

About MCCM Creations
Since entering the world of book publishing in 2001, MCCM’s aspirations have remained consistent to bring readers original and inspiring books from authors and designers who share a passion for books as objects, as well as a strong desire for exploring hybrid concepts.
MCCM titles are about the visualisation of experiences, stories and perceptions through the printed word, images and sound. We live in an age where people move freely across boundaries and inhabit areas of virtual space that intertwine to create new concepts and ways of living. These cross-disciplinary realities are at the core of MCCM fusing illustration, visual art, design, architecture, photography, socio-culture, and literature. Diversified as they are, our titles have ‘crossover’ appeals to different age groups and interest groups.
MCCM titles have a strong cultural slant that falls into two broad categories: visual culture books related to architecture, art, and design in Hong Kong and neighbouring regions, and illustrated fiction and picture books for children and young adults with the aim of nurturing intellectual and aesthetic development beyond the regular school syllabus. A majority of our titles are published in English or in bilingual (Chinese-English) editions.
