FutureScope Presents Resonance Aura – Astrolabe: An Immersive Celestial Experience

Hong Kong’s large-scale art dome presents its second immersive exhibition with a new interactive installation and live performances by experimental vocalist, Sainkho Namtchylak

30 January to 15 February 2026, Dream by the Sea, Kai Tak Sports Park

FutureScope, Hong Kong’s first large-scale art dome, continues to bring visionary ArtTech experiences to visitors with the launch of its second chapter, Resonance Aura – Astrolabe, at Kai Tak. From 30 January, the immersive experience invites visitors to explore sound, light, and movement within the dome. Conceptualised by Hong Kong media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m), alongside his media art collective XCEED, the second chapter presents a new interactive element, a mesmerising kinetic installation, Resonance Aura VI – Torquetum.

Following the success of Perpetual Records at FutureScope, Resonance Aura – Astrolabe invites visitors to reflect on their place in the world and the universe. The experience draws inspiration from the works of Hong Kong literary icon, Xi Xi (Ellen Cheung Yin), particularly ”Marvels of a Floating City” (《浮城誌異》) and “Imperial Astronomical Observatory” (《欽天監》). The exhibition reflects on Xi Xi’s poetic vision of the cosmos and urban life, echoing her observation that “The starry sky is simply the starry sky, it knows no borders,” which serves as the guiding principle behind the exhibition.

The exhibition will be complemented by ticketed live performances, featuring world-renowned experimental vocalist Sainkho Namtchylak, known for her pioneering mastery of Tuvan throat singing (Khoomei).

A Constellation of the City, A Mandala of Inner Self
Within the meditative atmosphere of FutureScope, a constellation emerges, not of distant stars, but of Hong Kong. Iconic landmarks such as the Chek Lap Kok Airport, Tsing Ma Bridge and Peak Tower are reimagined as ethereal point cloud constellations suspended in space. As visitors progress through the captivating 360° environment, their movements are scanned in real-time, generating a unique starfield and soundscape that ripple across the dome. The result is a contemplative dialogue between the city, its people, and the infinite universe.

At the centre of the dome stands Resonance Aura VI – Torquetum, a kinetic sculpture composed of seven self-revolving wheels. Symbolising the seven chakras of the human body, the sculpture acts as a breathing mandala that moves as part of the exhibition. The installation draws inspiration from the ancient “Spirit Terrace”, a sacred place for observing the heavens, bridging the cosmos and the self.

Live Performances: The Spirit Terrace and Sainkho Namtchylak
On select dates, FutureScope will present special live performances with acclaimed vocalist Sainkho Namtchylak. These performances transform the dome into an acoustic chamber for profound discovery where the kinetic wheels of the installation acts as a resonant instrument interplaying with the performer.

Each 30-minute performance is a dynamic dialogue between artist, installation, and audience, embodying a collective sensory experience that transcends traditional performance boundaries. The entrancing soundscape is engineered using binaural audio techniques, which involves delivering slightly different frequencies to each ear. By moving throughout the space, visitors can hear and feel varying vibrational experiences. This method directly influences brainwave patterns, fostering a deeper immersive and meditative experience for the listener.

Sainkho Namtchylak activates the dome with her transcendent mastery of Khoomei. Her freestyle throat singing will interact dynamically with the kinetic visuals using real-time audio visualising technology. Her voice, at once primordial and avant-garde, intertwines with the electronic soundscape and the rhythmic motion of the wheels, guiding all into a shared, meditative state.

“Life passes swiftly, what is there to fear?” Xi Xi wrote. Through its intersection of literature, sound, and technology, Resonance Aura – Astrolabe provides a pause within that swiftness, creating a space for introspection and shared wonder.
