The “World Grand Prix 2026” is set to be held in Hong Kong for the second occasion, taking place from 3 to 8 February, 2026 at Kai Tak Arena, Kai Tak Sports Park. The world’s top 32 snooker players will be competing for the championship and world rankings. The Hong Kong Tourism Board and the organiser jointly invite the participating players to attend a welcome ceremony at the Peak on the eve of the tournament, where they can enjoy the city’s world-renowned skyline while also experiencing traditional Chinese culture.
On the eve of the tournament, the top snooker players arrived in Hong Kong and embarked on a half-day city tour. They first enjoyed the vibrant cityscape of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island from an open-top sightseeing bus. They then boarded the Peak Tram to ascend the Peak, enjoying the panoramic views of Victoria Harbour. Against the backdrop of the Peak’s iconic skyline, the players took a group photo with the championship trophy. Later, the players attended a welcome reception, where they also tried their hand at Chinese calligraphy, preparing for the upcoming Chinese New Year, experiencing the unique skill of brush and ink.
Kyren Wilson said, “This was my first time taking the Peak Tram during the day, and it struck me as even more beautiful than the famous night view. The views along the way were awe inspiring, and the ride was very enjoyable. Watching the cityscape slowly reveal itself as we ascended until taking in the panoramic view of Victoria Harbour from the summit was a tremendous trip—I truly enjoyed the entire experience. Calligraphy is far more difficult than snooker, but I really got into it.”
In thanking the HKTB for its support of the event, Mr. Simon Brownell, CEO, World Snooker Tour, said, ” We extend our sincere gratitude to F-Sports Promotions and Hong Kong Tourism Board for once again extending such a warm welcome to the world’s top snooker players. This collaboration exemplifies how major international sporting events and host cities, working hand-in-hand, can enhance the overall event experience for both players and fans alike, while showcasing the obvious tourist potential of Asia’s World City.”
