Hot air balloons in different shapes and sizes will light up the Hong Kong skyline. Mark your calendar for the debut of the Hot Air Balloon Fest Hong Kong this September 4 to 7. In addition to 16 unique hot air balloons, the four-day event will also feature live performances from Hong Kong’s top artists. Keep reading to find out what to expect from the inaugural edition.
The Hot Air Balloon Fest Hong Kong will showcase six large hot air balloons as well as 10 smaller ones. Each balloon will be unique with playful designs and made by different countries, such as Germany and Japan. The balloons can reach heights of 10 metres and will surely be an impressive addition to the Hong Kong skyline. Visitors can head over to Central Harbourfront space from 7 am to 11:30 am and 4 pm to 11:30 pm from September 4 to 7.
It’s something to admire the hot-air balloons but it’s also an experience to get on one. The festival will have a tethered ride experience where a hot air balloon will be anchored to the ground with strong cables. Currently, it’s pending approval from various departments.
But if approved, the hot air balloons will rise into the sky between 10 and 20 metres, while remaining fixed in one location. The ride will last a few minutes, but visitors will be able to enjoy a stunning view of Hong Kong. The experience will be controlled by a certified pilot. One balloon can accommodate around two to four passengers.

Mega festival with music and stunning displays
The parade of hot air balloons will be complemented by game booths, pedal boats, inflatable castles, and snack stalls. There will also be a Night Glow Show, where the hot air balloons will illuminate in the night sky and synchronised with music. Furthermore, a strong line-up of performers will add even more excitement to the four-day event. Expect to see thrilling performances by Joey Yung, LMF, Gin Lee, Kay Tse, Leo Ku, Louis Cheung, and more.
